Having 5 cats and 5 people living in our home (2 with nasty allergies) means I am constantly dusting. I need to stay on top of the cat hair, dust, dirt and pollen, every.single.day. in order to breathe. Throw in the fact I have some OCD tendencies and I dust every surface a minimum of once a week, if not more. It makes these Swiffer dusters a huge time and energy saver. Read more »
For those of you that don’t know-May was a very hard month for us. We had a few highs and a lot of lows.
This post wont have any crafts, decorating or thrifty ideas; instead it will be very personal and share the changes that are coming to the blog as our life changes (hopefully in a BIG way).
The good news is, I got to know our insurance company and their support team better than I ever wanted between the fire in March and the car accident at the end of May (don’t worry besides bruises and aches everyone is ok).
Both of these occurrences were actually blessings in disguise.
Welcome to our 2016 Goal Update. I chose to title this post, “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” because that is EXACTLY what it is. Read more »
This week is another “Just Make Do” week at our house.
A review of our checkbook when paying some surprise medical bills and medicine “encouraged” me to plan to eat from the cabinets and freezer for the rest of this week. The only items purchased this week were 2 gallons of milk, 2 dozen eggs, oats & 2 loaves of bread totaling less than $12.00 total. If it is on the menu this week we already have it OR we will make adjustments to it and use what is on hand.
This week did not require a large shopping trip since we are eating from the cabinets and freezer and only purchasing dairy, produce and bread as needed. We are having guests for lunch each day during band camp and did increase our lunch plan to accommodate a larger lunch crowd but we still not change our over all menu. We haven’t even needed to purchase drinks after the great drink haul I grabbed at Save A Lot
Today I want to share a project that had a huge impact in our master bedroom and cost only a tiny bit of time and money.
In the post last month I shared 7 Ways to Brighten ANY room on a Budget. This post shares an additional way liven things up for little to no cost.
For starters, lets just put it out there.
I am an (undiagnosed) 42 year old mom with ADD, OCD and hoarding tendencies. A crazy combination, let me tell ya. I thrive on being involved in lots of stuff, and I am already planning new things before that “stuff” is even finished. Sound familiar? I am one of those people who could have a five bedroom house with three projects in progress in every room (and 100 more stacked in another). Of course, these projects would be spread ALL over the room and take days and days to finish because they would need to be perfect while the rest of my house fell apart and I had a nervous breakdown, over the mess and stress. I would still be planning my next project. I swear, my brain never shuts down.
I love to recycle and “buy” things because they are cheap or free. Yard sales, clearance, thrift stores, estate sales, these are my nemesis. I bring tons of things home for “future projects” that I end up just moving around and reorganizing 100x. Can I get an amen from anyone like me?
This past December I became very sick. More than my usual challenges. I could barely stand up, walk and breathe without severe pain or struggling for breath. Then a routine exam showed a mass in my right breast and we decided to have a precautionary biopsy.
